His professional capabilities to engineer advanced financial, tax, investment, insurance and estate planning needs into one holistic plan led him to found Alison Wealth Management.
Dave's personal experience helping his brother navigate the complex financial decisions that arose from being the CTO and Founder of a tech startup which was eventually purchased by Meta (Facebook) led him to open Alison Wealth Management's Palo Alto office to help others with similar opportunities or challenges.

Under his leadership over the last 10 years, that company has grown into a highly respected enterprise of companies supporting hundreds of financial advisor offices nationwide. Dave currently serves as the President of Prosperity Capital Advisors and Valor Capital Management, two SEC Registered Investment Advisory firms managing over $1.75 billion in client assets.
Dave also serves as a mentor and trainer to hundreds of financial planners, CPAs and estate planning attorneys as well as a frequent speaker at industry conferences through the United States. David Roth is tax & wealth advisor who has obtained the designations & licensing of Certified Financial Planner ™, Enrolled Agent (EA) admitted to practice before the IRS, as well as Investment Advisor Representative. David has completed the National Association of Enrolled Agent's Cryptocurrency Certificate Program, which confirms his advanced expertise into the tax issues surrounding crypto currency & taxation in the metaverse. This diverse experience and credentialing allows him to bring unique solutions to our clients regarding their tax, financial and investment matters. David is a graduate of Boston University with an undergraduate degree in Music, and later earned a Certificate of Financial Planning from Boston University School of Professional Education.
To continue his own education to best serve our clients, David is actively involved in the National Association of Enrolled Agents, a member of the Financial Planning Association Boston Chapter, the National Association of Divorce Professionals, in addition to serving on the board of his local homeowners association.
Prior to joining Alison Wealth Management, David worked for Intuit, the makers of TurboTax, as a Tax Expert where he would answer tax questions and help hundreds of individuals file their returns. In addition, he served as a lead bookkeeper with their bookkeeper department within QuickBooks Live. This has given him great insight into tax strategy and planning at a national level.
As a former senior manager, with a “big six” public accounting firm, Darryl has a vast array of experience in federal taxation of individuals, small businesses including partnerships, S corporations, closely held C corporations as well as large public companies. As a former college professor, he has an extensive background in teaching, researching, and writing about issues pertaining to the same areas of federal tax law including financial reporting and accounting for income taxes, and financial accounting, intermediate accounting, advanced accounting, financial statement analysis, and advanced corporate finance.
In addition to his thirty years of tax practitioner experience and twenty years of tax and accounting teaching experience, Darryl is an Enrolled Agent (EA) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Darryl’s academic pedigree includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy and a Master of Science in Taxation from Bentley College (now Bentley University); he holds a Master of Science in Accounting and a Ph.D. in Accounting with a minor in Finance, from The University of Arizona. Although Darryl primarily focuses on tax advisory issues, he is eager to help our clients in a variety of ways including accounting and finance, employee compensation, IRS exam representation, and IRS reporting related to foreign tax issues. His vast background in both the practitioner and academic worlds permits him to deliver optimal solutions for our clients with a view toward maximizing after-tax cash flows. In addition to his affiliation with Alison Wealth, Darryl is currently the managing and founding member of his own tax and accounting advisory firm that focuses on tax compliance, tax consulting, tax controversy, tax accounting and financial accounting issues for individual and business clients. He is quite passionate about tax instruction and frequently shares his passion for and knowledge of tax law by teaching tax courses including online and hybrid webinars for various state EA and CPA societies. Darryl also is the sole author of an inactive tax law blog “The Nutty Tax Professor” http://dbrowntaxlaw.blogspot.com/, which he hopes to soon reactivate.
Most important, Darryl is a devoted husband, father of seven children, grandfather of five, and loving member of a very large family all of whom tolerate his unusual love for federal tax law. In his spare time, Darryl enjoys reading non-tax books, fishing, gardening, landscaping, reading and studying tax law especially reading Tax Court cases, and writing and publishing tax articles.
Alana Alison is the operations director for Alison Wealth Management and is responsible for providing general support to the clients of Alison Wealth Management, including processing applications and account paperwork, assisting with scheduling needs and managing daily business operations for the firm. Prior to starting the company with husband, Dave Alison, she worked for a customer engagement agency providing account management, project management and marketing communications support. She is a graduate of Bournemouth University, located in Dorset, England, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business studies.
Originally from England, Alana moved to the United States in 2012. She and Dave are the proud parents of three daughters.

The CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designates that certificants have met extensive educational and experience requirements, have passed the comprehensive CFP® Certification Exam, provide a fiduciary standard of care, and are held to rigorous professional and ethical standards. CFP® certification is recognized as the "highest standard" in personal financial planning.
An Enrolled Agent (EA) is a person who has earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. Enrolled agent status is the highest credential the IRS awards. Individuals who obtain this elite status must adhere to ethical standards and complete 72 hours of continuing education courses every three years. Enrolled agents, like attorneys and certified public accountants (CPAs), have unlimited practice rights.
